🎮Your Pokémon Story

What was the first Pokémon game you ever played, and do you still have a soft spot for it today?

Ben Says: "Pokémon Red, I am a total Gen 1er over here. That opening screen with Charizard roaring? Straight chills. I still remember picking my first starter (Charmander, obviously) and not really knowing how to play, but knowing I needed to find Pikachu. I definitely still have a soft spot for it. Even with all the newer gens and crazy mechanics now, there’s just something magical about that original 8-bit journey. Link Cable battles, Missing no glitches, the Lavender Town theme — peak nostalgia."

The Trading Card Co Says: "Ben’s answer perfectly captures that timeless charm of the original Pokémon Red. The vivid way he describes that iconic Charizard intro and the nostalgic shoutouts to things like Link Cable battles and the Lavender Town theme really hit home for anyone who grew up in that era. It’s clear that for Ben, Pokémon Red isn’t just a game—it’s a core memory. His genuine affection for the classic 8-bit adventure is relatable and really brings out why Gen 1 still holds such a special place in so many fans’ hearts. Total "trainer vibes" from day one!"

If you could live in any Pokémon region, which one would it be and why?

Ben Says: "Johto, no question. It's got that peaceful, old-school charm. Its super scenic, has rich history, and those cozy towns like Ecruteak and Azalea. Feels like a place where you'd actually want to settle down. Plus, I already live in Galar, so I’d love the change of pace. Johto’s just beautiful.

The Trading Card Co Says: "Ben’s love for Johto shines through in this answer, and honestly, it’s hard to argue with him. Johto’s charm lies in its tranquil towns, deep-rooted history, and that almost nostalgic warmth that makes it feel like home. Ecruteak and Azalea especially have that timeless, almost spiritual energy that sets the region apart. Plus, the contrast he draws with Galar makes his choice even more meaningful — it’s not just about aesthetics, it’s about finding peace and a slower pace. A true Trainer looking for more than just battles — Ben’s after a lifestyle!"

What’s your all-time favourite Pokémon and how did it earn that top spot?

Ben Says: "Totodile’s always been my number one. I started with Gen 1, but it was in Gen 2 that I was old enough to really get the hang of the game. Totodile was right there with me from the start, and I just loved him. He quickly became my favourite, and his playful, wild energy in the anime just sealed the deal. Been my little blue MVP ever since."

The Trading Card Co Says: "Ben’s pick of Totodile as his all-time favourite is such a wholesome choice—and his reasoning makes it even better. There’s something really special about the first Pokémon you connect with after you’ve got a handle on the game, and for Ben, Totodile clearly represents that sweet spot of childhood discovery and personal growth. The way he ties in Totodile’s animated, fun-loving personality from the anime shows how much the character meant to him beyond just the gameplay. It’s not just a favourite — it’s a partner from the start. Total MVP energy, indeed!"

🌍Exploring the Pokémon World

We love your exploration of the Pokémon universe! If you could explore any part of the Pokémon world in real life, where would you go first?

Ben Says: "That’s a tough one — there are so many incredible places in the Pokémon world. But if I had to choose, I think I’d go with Mt. Silver. It’s mysterious, challenging, and just has that legendary vibe. The idea of climbing it, battling through the wild, and maybe even running into a certain silent Trainer at the top? Yeah, that’d be epic."

The Trading Card Co Says: "Ben’s choice of Mt. Silver is chef’s kiss for any hardcore Pokémon fan. It’s not just about the destination — it’s about the journey and the thrill of the unknown. Mt. Silver embodies everything epic about Pokémon: danger, mystery, and the ultimate test of your skills. His nod to the “certain silent Trainer” at the summit is a brilliant wink to the fans who know, adding that perfect layer of legendary nostalgia. You can tell Ben’s not just in it for the sights—he’s all about the adventure. Total explorer energy!

What’s one Pokémon-themed adventure (or challenge) that you’re still hoping to try out in your content?

Ben Says: "One adventure I’ve really been wanting to dive into is a Legends-style series — where I go on a journey to track down specific legendary Pokémon. I did something similar with Xerneas before and had a blast. I’d love to take it further, maybe go after the Regis or the Legendary Dogs from Johto. There’s just something epic about the hunt and the lore behind them."

The Trading Card Co Says: "Ben’s idea for a Legends-style series sounds like an absolute dream for lore lovers and adventure seekers alike. The way he ties in storytelling with legendary Pokémon hunts taps into that primal excitement we all felt chasing Mewtwo or roaming caves for Articuno. Having already tested the waters with Xerneas, it’s clear he knows how to build hype and atmosphere around these mythical quests. Whether it’s the enigmatic Regis or the noble Legendary Dogs of Johto, you just know Ben would turn the journey into something cinematic and unforgettable. Bring on the hunt!"

Your feed is filled with creative Pokémon content. How do you decide what to post next — is there a process or do you just go with the flow?

Ben Says: "Thank you so much. I have a few themes, I tend to follow the seasons firstly, I will link back to themed days or if something significant has happened in the Pokémon world like a game or TCG release, and I also come up with ideas while I am out and about. I see a location and can sometimes vision a story which I try to capture in a picture"

The Trading Card Co Says: "Ben’s approach to content creation is a perfect mix of thoughtful planning and spontaneous creativity. Following seasonal vibes and big Pokémon events keeps his feed timely and relevant, but it’s his ability to see a story in everyday places that really sets him apart. There’s something magical about turning a random location into a full-blown Pokémon moment, and that kind of imaginative spark is what makes his content feel alive. It’s clear he’s not just posting pictures — he’s crafting experiences. A true artist in the Pokémon space!"
